“Hey my lord?”
“Yea…?”
“You'll protect me right?”
“Debatable, but for the sake of this conversion. Yes.”
“Good enough for me.”
Anise tries to use mana on herself to make herself faint as Xania stops her immediately.
“No way I'm letting that happen. You chased this problem, you stay here with me.”
“Your my lord, so take responsibility for me… wait no, that sounds wro—”
“If you make yourself faint. I'm leaving you here alone to suffer.”
Anise sighs before answering. “Fine, I'll suffer with you.” She says shamelessly, acting like it isn't her fault.
“Stop that or I'll really ditch you, I can teleport out of here. You can't.”
“Fine, fine.”
Xania and Anise slowly walk out of the room, walking back to back with Xania watching the front and Anise watching the black as they reach the original location the divinity was kept in.
Xania picks up the container, using mana on it as it cracks instantly despite using nearly no mana.
“Seriously? You kept it in a glass box, made of normal glass, not even reinforced with mana?”
Xania looks over at Anise who's glancing away, not wanting to take the blame.
“Anise, you probably know more about divinity than me since… well, it seems you've been experimenting with it more than I've been.”
“That's so rubbish. You've got no evidence.”
“Yea I don't but the friend you made… literally is evidence enough.”
“Haha, you're so funny. How about trying to use tracking magic on divinity?” Anise picks up some shards of the glass box, throwing them at Xania which just bounces off her body.
“Nope, tracking magic only works on mana. I tried it on Divinity already, but didn't pick anything up.”
Anise and Xania keep searching around, hearing footsteps as they turn around, attacking the source.
“Did… we get it?” Anise prepares another shot as Davien appears behind them.
“No. You didn't get me.”
“Davien, what the hell are you doing here?!”
“Felt some messed up divinity, came to check, who caused this?” Davien glances over at Xania who just points to Anise who is ignoring them, surprising him and annoying Xania.
“Hey. Did you think I was at fault?”
“You have the most divinity so… yea.”
“... Just shut up and help us fix the problem.”
“Not much of a problem to fix. It'll dissipate by itself.”
Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
“You sure?*
“Yea. Not gonna question how I know?”
“Will you answer?”
“No, not at all.”
“...”
“These things are called phantoms due to people believing they are part of someone's soul.”
“What?”
“It's like a superstition kind of thing. They are also a symbol of bad luck and are nicknamed the reapers.”
“What?”
“This… is not as much of a superstition but they can't hurt you so just leave it be.”
“Sure? Anise, hear that? Let's go now and ditch.”
“Fine, but if my lab here is worse than before, I'll kill the zombie bastard.”
“What you two do is none of my business, just don't involve me.” Xania shakes her head, preparing to teleport them out.
“Miss Xania, you do know this isn't my fault either?”
“Then are you gonna say it's my fault?”
“Yea.” both Anise and Davien say as Anise crosses her arms while Davien nods.
“Why?”
“You gave Miss Anise your divinity.”
“She took i—”
“You overworked me.” Anise interrupts.
“...”
Xania stares at them for a few moments before teleporting them all out.
Anise covers her eyes due to the bright sunlight compared to being in the laboratory as Davien looks at Anise before staring back at Xania who sends a wave of mana at him.
“Miss Xania, what are you doing?”
“That's for the bracelet.”
Xania teleports Davien away as Anise and her go drop onto the bed.
“My bed, you're truly my love.”
The next day, Xania has discussed with Anise and decided the naming of the kingdom was put on hold, including all the tasks Anise had not done yet with Xania making Anise a laboratory exactly identical to the one she had but inside the castle itself. In return, Anise made her a new bracelet and returned her things.
The next morning, Anise shakes her up in a panic as she sits up rubbing her eyes in annoyance.
“What is it?” Xania asks, still rubbing her eyes.
“My lord! It's an emergency!” Anise starts trying to pull Xania off with her.”
“Can't you just calm down a bit?” Xania pulls Anise back onto the bed, making her annoyed.
“My lord! Let's go!” Xania concedes to Anise's constant requests as she follows, getting confused as Anise brings her to the portal to the underworld.
“If I may ask what we're doing here?” Xania pulls her arm away from Anise who just grabs her arm again.
“Just follow!” She pulls Xania through the portal and keeps pulling as Xania makes some shields around them, stopping Anise.
“Not going any further till you tell me what we're doing here.” Xania crosses her arms as Anise starts trying to pull her tail instead but to no avail.
“Fine, let's talk while walking!” Anise finally stops trying to pull Xania as Xania starts walking by her side
“Fine.” Xania starts flying after Anise who starts flying upwards.
“The core of the underworld has been damaged and hurry up!” Anise shouts out to Xania who's still sleeping and flying slower than her.
“What does that mean?” Xania waits for an answer but Anise replies in a soft voice, forcing Xania to catch up due to her curiosity.
“It means, there's gonna be differences from the underworld and the overworld as the humans call it.” Anise says, making Xania look around at their surroundings which already differ significantly from the overworld and looking back at Anise who grumbles softly to herself.
“Time dilation! Have you not been paying attention to any of my lessons?!” Anise grabs Xania's grab, forcing her to hurry.
“So… will the overworld be faster or the underworld?” Xania doesn't speed up as Anise gets slowed down by Xania instead.
“The time dilation is currently at 2:1 the nether world will experience 2 times more time than the over world.” Anise starts trying to push Xania to hurry her up.
“Hey, where are we flying to?” Xania looks up at the ‘sky’ of the underworld, nothing in sight, no clouds, no sun, just a red ‘sky’.
“Fly far enough you'll see! So hurry the hell up!” Anise gives up on forcing Xania to be faster through physical means.
“Fine, fine. But only cus I'm curious.” Xania starts flying as fast as she can, pulling Anise with her who is just happy Xania is finally cooperating instead of struggling.
“Hey, you might want to slow down a bit—” Anise tries to warn as Xania's face crashes into an invisible barrier.
“Ouch… could've warned me earlier.” Xania rubs her face.
“My lord, the core is through here. The first demon lord made this barrier and illusion to keep the core safe, though it clearly didn't work.” Anise puts her hand on the barrier.
“Yea, yea. So cool, how do we get through?” Xania replies annoyed due to her curiosity.
“Well… that's…” Anise tries to think of how.
“Do you not know?” Xania pulls out her scythe, intending to go back as Anise stops her.
“No going back! I may not know how, but the method is probably hidden in the demon kingdom!” Anise snatches Xania's scythe away.
“Seriously? Do I have to go?” Xania sighs, snatching her scythe back with ease, her shoulders slumped by herself as she feels like going back to sleep.
“My lord, you're so damn lazy! You don't even need sleep. The first time we met you already said you could stay awake for months or years!” Anise crosses her arms angrily.
“Let's just go…” Xania sighs, letting herself be pulled by Anise .
