Chapter 39. Ghost.

  “Hey Anise.”

  “Yea?”

“Can you hold onto the key handle?”

  “Sure, but why?”

“My bracelet… is gone, if you hadn't kept my scythe for me I wouldn't have been able to get it from yours… hey, where did my bracelet actually go?”

  “what? You're just noticing?”

“No, I swear I noticed it before but I forgot.”

  “Dementia piece of…”

Anise sighs, stopping herself from cussing Xania out further.

  “Davien broke it.”

  “What? Why?”

“Ask him, his keeping secrets nonstop.”

“Those damn things are such a pain to make.”

“Yea. Hence why I haven't made another for you.”

  “Let's just get back…”

  “Yep, I agree.”

Xania teleports them back to their bedroom, finding Vanice and blob there, lying down on their bed.

“Hey.” Anise says, making Vanice immediately sit up.

  “Nothing, I wasn't doing anything!”

“Yea right. Get back to your bed or your own side.”

“But my room is basically on the other side of the castle and you always make me come here!”

Anise sighs, making a small area in their room for Vanice, sending her flying in before shutting the door behind her with wind magic as Xania grabs Blob up, throwing her in with Vanice, shutting the door once again.

“Well, that problem is taken care of.”

“Miss Xania, miss Anise, nice to see that your bac—”

Both Anise and Xania start attacking him using magic as he seemingly disappears by moving very fast but not stopping Xania and Anise as they keep shooting magic as Davien appears behind them.

“Miss Xania and miss Anise, please stop this, I've got t—”

Xania sends him flying away with wind magic, destroying a chunk of their wall with it as it starts fixing the wall but not fast enough before Davien returns, passing the bracelet back before moving away quickly.

Xania looks down at the bracelet, placing her scythe inside and feeling something else inside as she takes it out, finding the second part of the key.

“Oh wow, I don't want to deal with this but I'm pretty curious.”

“Same my lord, but how about we fix the key first but don't use divinity on it?”

  “Yep, I agree.”

Xania passes the key handle and the other part together, letting go of one hand, expecting it to connect but watches as it drops to the ground, picking it back up using magic.

Xania keeps trying, not succeeding at all either Anise trying to no avail.

This story originates from a different website. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

“My lord, I take it back, how about using divinity?”

“Sure, if anything goes wrong, it's your fault.”

Xania starts trying, but still fails to get it to stick as she placed both parts into her bracelet, temporarily postponing the problem.

“Ok Anise. That's our future’s problem.”

  “Sure…”

“My lord, not that we're back, how about actually building your kingdom properly?”

  “What do you mean?”

“It's a kingdom. We need more than housing, blacksmiths and barracks. We need farms, sightseeing spots, a name for your kingdom, anywhere to relax. Somewhere for children and a whole lot more.”

  “Uh… can you do it?”

  “Not happening.”

Anise grabs Xania's tail, not letting her run away as Xania lets herself fall to the ground, not wanting to go.

“Don't wanaaaa, it's also so time consuming when I do these work related things with you!”

“Calm down, it won't be much compared to some of the other things.”

Xania sighs, looking at Anise before agreeing.

  “Fine…”

“Nice. Let's start now. What do we start with?”

“How about the easiest, naming the… nevermind, but be a bit hard for you.”

  “What's that supposed to mean?”

Anise thinks of Xanias scythe and… ‘Blob’

  “Nothing.”

  “That pause felt rude.”

“It's your imagination. But you'll still need to come up with a name.”

  “No… I don't, you do it.”

“Fine, but then whatever I say will be the name, no changing.”

“Sure. What's next on the list?”

“That's… housing, and more cooks, so inviting different races wouldn't hurt.”

  “Inviting different races? How?”

“Well, you have a bunch to do lik—”

  “And onto the next task.”

  “What about the current one?”

  “Future me's problem.”

  “Fine, next is…”

Anise keeps naming our multiple tasks, all that Xania delegates to Anise, postphones or ignores all together, pissing off Anise more with each task for next time.

“I'm done, fine. I'll deal with every. Single. Thing.”

“Oh wow, you don't have to but, since you insist, have fun!”

Xania waves her hand as she teleports Anise out.

  “Piece of…”

Anise sighs, going to do the tasks Xania was supposed to do. One by one.

The next day, Anise sends her a list of what she did.

  Dear piece of… Xania.

  I've completed the:

  Building of more facilities.

  Getting some elves.

  Building farms.

  …

  …

  …

  Renaming the kingdom to “Xania.”

Xania rubs her eyes, rechecking what she just read.

  “What the hell!”

  “Anise!”

Xania starts looking around for Anise in the castle, being completely unable to find her.

She uses detection magic, finding Anise ridiculously far away as she teleports to her location, finding herself in a laboratory.

  “What the hell is this?”

Xania starts walking around, finding a room where the mana feels a lot more as she opens the door walking in.

As she walks in, the first thing she sees is a shield, the second being a staff being swung at her face as she barely dodges downwards in time.

She looks up, seeing Anise there, holding the staff nervously.

“Do you have a grudge against me?”

Anise sighs, making a bed and lying down on it, putting her staff beside her.

“Yes, but not really why I swung at you.”

“Then is this a new form of greeting I don't know about?”

“... While you were asleep before, I may have stolen some of your divinity since you just regenerated it back again.”

“Oh, but what does that have to do with this?”

“It escaped and was destroying my whole area.”

“Right… I've learnt that swinging your staff at mana doesn't work especially when you don't fight physically so I doubt swinging at divinity does.”

  “No, the divinity disappeared.”

  “Ok…?”

  “And it made a ghost!”

  “What?”

Anise suddenly hears noise outside as she puts the shield back on, making multiple layers of it quickly.

“If you're so scared just teleport out.”

“I can't, the divinity left on the walls is interrupting my teleportation, so I'll just hit my face if I try.”

  “Well… I can.”

“Yea, that's because your divinity is more than enough!”

Xania sighs, intending to teleport out before Anise grabs and pulls her tail quickly.

“Don't leave me here?! And at least save my laboratory!”

“Fine. But first tell me what this is for.”

“I need a hobby too, you know?!”

“Fine but first, have you even seen this ‘ghost’ of yours?”

  “Well…”

“So you have? What makes you think there's a ghost?”

“I just know there is! And shut the door!”

Xania walks to close the door as she suddenly hears soft footsteps outside.

“Hurry!” Anise whispers, pulling Xania's tail with more strength Xania knew she had.

“Fine. But lemme take a look first.”

  “No!”

Anise tries to pull her in but gets pulled along as Xania walks to the door, looking to the right, finding nothing at all.

  “See? Anise, there's no—”

Xania suddenly hears whispering from her left, stunning there to find a semi transparent mostly unrecognisable face as she shuts the door immediately, creating more layers of shield on Anise's.

“Ok, alright, ghosts are real apparently…”

  “I told you!”

They both shout as they suddenly hear someone signing behind them, attacking it immediately.

“My lord, you're the meat shield!”

“No way I'm dealing with that!”

Xania teleports them to a different part of the laboratory, locking them in with Anise now hugging her tail as comfort for herself.”

“Ghosts are real…” Xania chuckles softly to herself, not knowing how to react properly.
