Chapter 49: Interrogated, Despite My Innocence!
If I was that being (future Celia said that it was a “she,” if I remember correctly), I’d be pissed to all hell. We spent the entire day shopping around, and now… our little group went to a hotel to sleep in!
Nemu: “…”
I’ll get to the grumbling Mana girl in a second… Anyway, while Nemu seemed poised to be the one who ran this event. Unfortunately for her, Guanyu took the reins, like she always seems to do.
Nemu: “My control over Mana is blocked, but I can still notice your presence, Vulely.” She needlessly informed.
Narrator Vulely: “I am also not hiding my presence at all. So, of course you can, silly!” I smugly replied, happy that this woman could no longer hear my thoughts, or my narration.
Even Guanyu had more respect for me! In my recollection, that was the only time Guanyu has ever peered into my mind. Meanwhile… I have the mindset of a rapist, using my job as an excuse to hear people’s thoughts, even the inner words of my very family.
Not like I’ll stop, though. As Celia sanctioned this in the first place, and I have actually been very light on what thoughts I’ve included in the narration thus far. My wife said it was okay, so morals be damned!
Nemu: “You’ve been ignoring me this entire time…” She said with a boiling rage.

Narrator Vulely: “I’ve merely been waiting for you to calm down, Nemu. I understand that losing your strongest ability, regardless of the loss being temporary, is very painful and scary.” I denied with an empathetic tone.
Nemu: “Hard to believe the words of someone who so easily sold me out to Guanyu… Can you even begin to comprehend how lucky we are that Guanyu is so sane, fair, and logical? There is basically no end to her power!” She shot back, thankfully only lashing out via slightly anger-tinged words, rather than with force.
That’s quite true… After Nemu and Celia’s reveal, I was honestly confident that, eventually, no one could ever hope to overpower them, ever. I still have no idea how Guanyu was even able to take Nemu’s Mana control away…
Narrator Vulely: “Nemu, though it does sound rude, you only have yourself to blame. Before you go and yell at me more, just know that I didn’t rat you out, and Guanyu realized something was off just by the way you acted.” I clarified with a coaxing tone.
Nemu: “…Purely because I tried taking charge of this event… Guanyu assumed that I was hiding something from her? Shit… If I just let her be the leader, like Guanyu tends to be these days… I’d still have my secret leverage over her.” She expressed with a tone of shame, biting her nail, half doing a thinking pose as well.
Narrator Vulely: “…”
Nemu: “Okay, I’ve calmed down enough to not want revenge against you, Vulely. Just… go and gather intel for us.” She suggested in a friendly tone this time, instead of sternly ordering me around.
Narrator Vulely: “?”
Nemu: “I do not see your face… but you surely look like an idiot right now. Vulely, please try to remember your role.” She added with a visible vein appearing on her forehead.
Narrator Vulely: “( ? _ ? )”
Nemu: “Haven’t figured it out on your own? You aren’t tied to the family, Vulely. You can spy on anyone, including our enemies!!! I swear, you’ve been slacking in your narration job more than I ever expected you to…” She explained with a tone of utter disappointment, a feeling that I now share with her.
