Not ShadowS, ShadowED - Chapter 462

Jason laughs and points his be-furred fist away from the others before sending out a couple rapid body blasts through it causing all the fur to fly out, embedding into the wall before it vanishes. "There we go, that was easy enough. Now what kind of loot did we get?"

Courtney pulls out a magnifying glass. Jason sort of remembers seeing it before. Then again, he might just be thinking of the one Gregor had. Though the purpose is obvious enough and soon enough she tells the others what they got this time.

{Throwing Needle Set of the Shadowed Curse

Description: Needles formed by the System to imitate a variant tardigroid from the dungeon “Invasion from the Deep Sky”. The original monster's fur was capable of extraordinary piercing attacks and contained a stacking curse. Though said curse was weak enough that it took quite a bit of the fur to be stuck in the enemy. These needles do not suffer from this weakness. Though they do become more powerful when multiple needles are in the same target. The set comes with a simple sheath.

  Effects:

  • Penetration - the needles are 2.7 times more effective at penetrating than the craftsmanship would indicate

  •
  • Mosquito's Bite - the needles innately dull the pain of any wound they create while still in contact with said wound

  •
  • System's Boon of Eventual Ammo Returning - thrown needles return to the provide sheath either after six seconds or the current battle ends, whichever is last

  •
  • Compounding Curse of the Shadowed - while a needle is stuck in a target it will suffer from a curse with each additional needle increasing the effect

  •

    • 1st: Stiffen - minus 5 Agility for every needle in the target

    •
    • 2nd: Enfeeble - minus 5 Constitution for every needle past the first

    •
    • 3rd: Weaken - minus 5 Strength for every needle past the second

    •
    • 4th: Phantom Pain - the effect of Mosquito's Bite becomes twice as effective and instead of removing pain, transfers it to other wounds or a random spot if no other wounds exist

    •
    • 5th: Darkness - the target's vision is obscured by illusionary darkness which acts like normal darkness except for the fact that light sources don't work on it

    •
    • 6th: Instant Return - once the needles detect the target had died or removed the curse, the needles will return to the sheath}

  {White Shell of Reflect Light

  Description: A section of a variant tardigroid's shell which contains both the properties of illumination and reflection. Neither property is dominant.}

  Stolen novel; please report.

Rosha laughs, "I guess you just got a new weapon. I don’t really see the shadow connection, but if the System says it is so, it must be there!”

Courtney snorts, “Not shadowS, shadowED. The System is likely more hinting towards hidden danger instead of any actual connection with the shadows. It doesn’t even have a shadow related ability. The closest is the darkness effect and all that does is an underpowered blindness.”

Jason shrugs, “I wouldn’t say underpowered. Rather, it looks to be coming at it from a different angle. Sure, way too many beings can see at least partially in the dark, but it should get around a few normal solutions. Off the top of my head things that won't work are normal blindness cures, light powers, and a few tricky vision replacement methods that normally would fall to blindness.”

Courtney raises an eyebrow, “Reaching there at the end.”

Jason, “I just felt like three was a nice round number for that sort of list. Not that I’m wrong, the last one is just a wee bit unlikely.”

While the two of them are talking it over, Rosha grabs the shell piece. "This will probably make a good shield. Some paladin types will love it. White and radiant? I bet we can sell this piece for 200 gold and that is without haggling.

"Those righteous types love this stuff. Sleek, white, and glowing like no tomorrow. The only shame is it doesn't mention the deep sky. That would really get them interested."

Courtney turns to her, "While the enthusiasm isn't misplaced, I doubt we'll get more than one fifty for it. The shell might be nice, but it would be hard to find matching armor. If there is one thing we can both agree on, those types at least know how to coordinate their wardrobe."

Jason, "Don't really see what that has to do with anything. It is still a good piece of material."

Both of the girls give his current outfit a once over and scoff. A partial set of newb gear and a couple random pieces make it quite clear what his stance on fashion is.

Jason is about to fire back about their own state, when he realized that their clothes actually match. Sure, he had already noticed they'd ditched their new clothes. However, it hadn't really clicked that their clothes weren't the usual player mishmash. He gestures at them, "How?"

Rosha laughs, "I'm rich! Did you forget that but?"

Jason, "No, but it didn't seem like you were planning to take advantage of your external wealth."

Rosha shrugs, "You wouldn't be wrong. However, what you're seeing is more of a side benefit. We still paid the proper price for this all.

"In fact, we're both kind of broke right now. We just used my family's connections to find crafters to commission. We even provided the material ourselves."

Courtney nods, "Part of why we weren't here sooner is because we made two stops along the way. First we found an area with shadow wolves. The town's guild had a subjugation quest for them which was nice, but we would have culled them anyway for material."

She gestures at her armor, "As you'll probably guess, that is where my current gear comes from. Though we did get lucky that we had a connection in the town. That made it easier to get the local crafters to make it."

Rosha scoffs, "Yeah, luck. That guy wasn't there because someone my dad controls took notice of our path and figured we would stop there."
