Steven took in a breath before he began to focus, feeling the heat of the raging flame begin to rise from within him, taking in a breath of cold air and letting breath out puff of hot air. He then clamped his hands together in to a small ball, feeling the flow of heat moving through his body and on to his hand. He felt that it was ready and eager to ignite but he needed focus. Steven then took in another breath, feeling the power and heat flow through him and to his hands, before finally allowing it to ignite, holding back and controlling the power enough that only small ember was formed by its ignition.
Steven slowly unclamped his hands and smiled brightly with excitement and happiness as he watched the small ember stood on open palm. It didn’t burst out in an uncontrollable fury of flames nor did it blow, singing his face its flames. It stood there calming flicking the gentle breath from his open window blew around it. Steven felt as though he could stare at that flicking flame on his hands, a testament to his achievement of finally beginning to master ferocious of fire, and he most likely would have if it wasn’t for a knock on his door.
Steven, startled upon hearing the knock, in a panic lost control of his power cause the ember to grow before eventually burst right in front of his with loud boom. An innocent young Susan just as the door opened up revealing an upset and incredibly annoyed Steven, his clothes slightly burned and singed with smoke escaping from his head.
“What do you want?” he spoke, from his tone it was evident that wasn’t in a particularly good mood if the look of annoyance on his face didn’t make that fact clear enough.
“Er...I was wondering if you could, may be, want to play...” Susan could not even complete her sentence before Steven said blunt and coldly, “I’m busy”.
He then shut the door.
“Oh, sorry, I didn’t mean to disturb you”, she spoke softly with her head bowed down, talking to the shut door before slowly walking away from room.
Steven just let out a deep sigh, not really good about the way he treated Susan but *sigh*, he needed to focus, recalling that night, the scars on his parents hid from them along with what they said.
Taking in a deep breath and let go, he clamped his palms together.
“I’m worried about him”
His father’s words echoed in his mind. He then closed his eyes and began to focus his power.
“He said he wants to be a Golden Dragon Guard”
He felt his body begin to his up as a flaming aura envelope his entire body
“He can barely control his flames...”
A flame then ignited within his clamped.
“...how can he possibly dream of facing those monsters”
Tears then began to stream down his shut eyes, steaming up as trickled down his cheeks heated up along with the rest of his body as he felt his power begin to rise.
“Passion and fury, the core of attribute of flame. Passion, the spark that ignites the flame, and fury, the fuel that allows it to burn. To command the power of the flames one must allow their passion to flow through their body, igniting the flames from deep within and allow fury to drive you, allowing the flames to burn and shine bright.
But one must also be cautious when attempting to conquer the power of flame, for a balance must be struck between the two core attributes. To little of either of them and the flames become weak and timid, too much and....”
The flame on Steven’s opened palm erupted with a massive boom.
Steven slowly opened up his eyes only to see that there was now a massive scorch mark on the floor in the middle of the room where he laid. Let out a sigh, he got up. Looking around his room and seeing that everything was still intact, and nothing had could fire, he let out another sigh of relief.
A few days had pasted since that night and every day since Steven had spend his time locked up in his room practicing, training, on how to control his flames. Recalling was he’s father said about him lacking control over his flames. He hoped that he managed fully master his flames, he could show his parents and they would allow he be a Golden Dragon Guard, and maybe, just maybe, he could prevent that nightmare from becoming a reality.
Steven, looking down at the scorched floor underneath his feet, let up another sigh before crushing his hand in to tight fist and ignite his entire body in flaming aura. Then clamped his palms once again, determined to continue practicing and training until he mastered his power, with the events what happened that night replaying over and over again in his head, serving only as fuel to he untameable flames of determination that burned in his heart.

Steven in his room of hours on end, practicing and training, but each every time it seemed as though he was beginning to master it fiery explosion to the face proved wrong. Eventually, after hours of practice, Steven found himself lying while panting on a flood chard and as black as coal, his body darkened by soot with escaping from his body.
Letting out a sigh as he managed to get his sore body up, groaning slightly in pain and exhaustion. He then tried once more to muster up a flame but the only thing he could manage of weak flame which a flickered a bit before being put off by a gentle breeze. Steven greeted his teeth in frustration, burning whatever little strength he had let with the rage he felt for still not being able to master his flames even after spending the past few days practice.
Steven feeling his anger slowly taking hold of him, felt his ignite once more in a flaming aura. Feeling the heat consume his body as the aura grew with his rage; Steven felt the remaining strength he had began away, reaching the point where he could barely stand on his own two feet. Steven then took a deep breath, shut his eyes and calmed his heart before taking in another breath, feeling his body begin to cold and the aura dissipate before he letting go.
Finally calm with his powers under control, Steven let out a breath before deciding to take a break. Making his way to the door and opening it with the first thing he noticed behind the deafen silence that filled the entire house.
He parents weren’t around, having gone out on some kind of mission with the Golden Dragon Guard leaving him and Susan alone in the house as usual. Steven let out a sigh as he recalled the way he treated Susan early before deciding to go to her room to apologies.
Upon reaching her room, he gentle knocked on her room’s door but no one responded. Wondering if she was resting or was simply just mad at him, Steven opened the door slightly to peep through to check up on her only to be met with the sight of an empty.
Steven, worried upon seeing Susan’s room empty, frantically searched the entire house to find her only discover, much to shock and dread that she was not in the house.
“Where could she be?” Steven asked himself, wondering where Susan might have wondered off to. His eyes then wondered off in to a nearby window, spotting the vast stretch of trees and vegetation that was the forest that laid outside the house. Steven then recalled how Susan would often wonder off in to the forest when she would get bored to play, she didn’t usually wonder off too far so he hoped she would be okay but he couldn’t shake the lingering feeling that was wrong and Susan was in some kind of danger.
Steven, unable to shake away his worry and concern for his sister, decided to go to the forest to make sure she was alright. He roamed through the vast green of the forest and after venturing deep in to the thicket with a single trace of Susan; his heart began to race with fear and worry. Shifting his gaze high up in the sky above the forest’s canopy, he leaped off the ground and summoned his dragon. Soaring high up in the sky above the trees, he scanned the from above, hoping that from that height he would be able to find her.
It didn’t take him long before he heard familiar echo through the forest coming from a river not too far away. Steven, spotting the river, rode his dragon hastily to it, commanding his dragon to fly as fast as it could to the river but as he rode on his dragon, he felt strength begin to wane. Tired and immensely drain from having used so much of his power while practicing, he began to struggled to summon enough strength to sustain his dragon and he eventually he ran out of the little strength he had, causing his dragon to disappear and him to crash down to the forest.
Steven, lying on the forest floor after crashing down, managed to muster enough strength to get back up on his feet. Luckily the tree branched and soft grass below were there to cushion and soften the fall. As he got up he heard Susan crying out for help along with the roar of the rage river. He then quick dashed away, ignoring whatever pain or injury might have have been inflicted upon by the fall and rushed straight for the river.
Reaching the river, he was able to spot Susan, struggling against the rivers tides and waves, to stay afloat. Fearing that she would drown, Steven dove in after her, forgetting that he didn’t know how to swim. Struggling to keep himself afloat against the currents pull and the wave that threaten to bury underneath the water, Steven focus still remained on Susan. Watching as she struggled alongside him to stay afloat just out of arms reach, he greeted his teeth in anger and frustration, refusing to loss his sister to the waters. With his eyes blazing and transforming to fiery red dragon eyes, he attempted summon a fire ball great enough to propel both his and Susan to safety, he flames were to weak, he was too weak, and they were put out by the by the raging leaving, having muster the very little speck of strength he had left to conjure that flame, too weak and dread to fight the river’s current.
He watched as everything became dim and blurred as the waves thrashed about around him, pulling him down deep in to the flowing river with last image he saw being that of Susan before everything went dark.
The next Steven could remember was feeling the water that had filled his lungs gush out of him along with piercing flash of light as he reopened his eyes. It took a moment but as he eyes readjusted to the light, the very first thing they laid upon was Susan.
“Su...”, before he could even utter a single word, he was pulled in by her in to tight hug, feeling her stream down her face before saying ““Please don’t ever do something as stupid as that ever again. I’m a water dragon warrior, the water can’t hurt me , you on the other...”
Steven then raised his arms gently and hugged her back. As the two sibling embraced each other in that warm embrace, Steven hold on Susan tightly, recalling how, despite the fact that he used up every single ounce of strength he could muster, he still wasn’t strong enough to see. Replaying in his mind how drown in river along with what conversation he overheard from his parents that night.
“He can barely control his flames, how can he possibly dream of being a Golden Dragon Guard”
Those words echoed in his mind, causing a small tear to escape his eyes before closed them shut and opened them back up as blazing red dragon eyes burning fierce with drive and determination, the very thing that would fan the flames that would later turn to a raging inferno that consumed all in its flames including him
