Morningsong’s tyrannical father has just died. As much as she’s glad for the safety of RiverClan, he’s still her father. She sits vigil for him, alone. No one else in her Clan wants to join her, not even her sister. As the night goes on, she tries to sort through the day’s events, including his death. She starts to feel terrible about what her father has done, feeling sickened by the thought of him. She begins to feel bad about herself, believing the suspicions of her Clanmates, that she will end up just like him. She heads to her den, trying to hide from her father’s spirit, wherever it may be. She falls asleep, awakening in a dark forest, blood coating the ground and everything around it. She runs, bumping into a dark brown tabby. She looks up, her breath catching in her throat; her father stands over her with a malicious grin. She wakes, but the worst is yet to come…
