Chapter 32. Slight divinity problem.

As the fight progresses, Xania keeps attempting to dodge Davien's attacks, improving during the fight itself but still failing to avoid any of his attacks unless he intended for her to do so.

The only time she lands any hits is when Davien allows it which starts annoying her severely.

“I should be talented at this due to the past demon lord's experience with improving my battle sense and talent but this guy here is still ridiculously strong! Stupid ex-human death knight!”

“Miss Xania, please calm down, we are still connected by telepathy so I can still hear your thoughts.”

  “I don't give a damn!”

Davien slows down slightly, letting Xania send him flying with an attack, teleporting to him immediately and swinging her scythe down at him as he dodges so quickly it looks like he teleported.

“Miss Xania, you said you wanted to learn this? Well, the best way to learn is to experience something.”

Davien starts increasing the amount of energy around his sword.

“Please keep in mind I can easily maintain this, though I'll make it look like a final attack, so please don't vomit or faint on me.”

“Shut it! What makes you think I'll faint or even vomit from one of your attacks?”

  “Experience.”

  “I've never—”

  “The paladin.”

“Ah… still, she's much weaker than me!”

  “I know.”

Davien suddenly moves in front of Xania, swinging his sword down at her as she blocks it.

He doesn't give up, continuing to push the sword against the handle of her scythe, with Xania being able to tie in strength against his sword will.

Despite being able to match his strength, Xania starts feeling pain again despite no damage caused to her due to the sword being sent in every direction.

A couple minutes later as Xania starts losing strength, Davien weakens the attack against her, jumping back into the wall, feigning it as being hit into the wall.

Xania approaches him, bringing her scythe down onto him but stops a moment before hitting.

“You done with the acting, Davien?”

  “Yep.”

  “Because that was shit.”

Xania teleports back to her seat, announcing her win reluctantly as she teleports Davien out.

  “My lord, what happened?”

“He told me to act, I did.”

“Oh, I was wondering how you won since you can't just send dozens of spells like you usually do out of concern for the civilians.”

“You expected me to lose too?”

  “Of course.”

“Wow… my feelings are so hurt. As compensation, I expect you to work at least twice as hard for the rest of the week.” Xania says so in a monotonous voice and forced smile.

“Your voice, words and expressions don't fit right now.”

“Does it matter? Don't answer that actually, where's Davien?”

  “Why should I tell you?”

“To prevent my feelings from getting more hurt.”

  “...”

“Fine, his in the storage room”

  “Storage room?”

“In the stadium, I made one.”

  “Huh?”

“Oh right, you just materialise whatever you want without giving a damn.”

Anise teleports Xania into the storage room.

“Wow, it's dark in here isn't it?”

Xania uses light magic to light up the room, seeing a Skeleton right in front of her.

  “Oh, what the fuck!”

  “Miss Xania?”

  “Davien?”

  “Yes?”

“Why the hell are you a Skeleton?”

  “You didn't know?”

“Not really, no. You always just had fire burning where your head was so I had assumed you lacked… a head.”

“The fire looks less scary than a human skull afterall.”

  “Yea, I agree fully.”

“Miss Xania, why are you here?”

“You said you'd teach me that thingy… the, what was it called again?”

  “Sword will?”

  “Yep, that thingy.”

  “Stop calling it that ‘thingy’.”

  “Fine, the sword whatever.”

  “...”

  “Just follow me…”

Davien teleports to the training ground, leaving Xania behind.

“Hey, human, I'm not sure why you are here, or what you were talking about with Davien, but get lost or I'll kill you.”

Xania looks over at a supposingly normal wall, knowing that the dragon slayer is behind it due to her bloodlust which she learned to partially control before teleporting to the training grounds.

“Miss Xania, what took so long?”

  “How was that long?”

“It was long for something that was supposed to be instant.”

  “I was just contemplating life.”

  “What?”

“If I said that, would you believe me?”

“No, but I'll just pretend to believe you so we can drop this.”

  “Thanks.”

“What do you know about sword will?”

  “Cool transparent energy?”

  “...”

“Sword will let you strengthen your sword or attack with your will.”

  “But I use a scythe.”

“Works too, but it's called sword will since the majority of people who use it use swords.”

  “Why?”

  “Easiest.”

  “oh.”

“It can bend things to your will, such as hurting somebody without physical damage, cutting somebody without damaging their clothes, etc.”

“Nice, how do I learn it?”

  “Have a strong will.”

  “What?”

  “Or a persistent one.”

  “I need more elaboration.”

“Either you train for very long or have something you want or need extremely badly.”

  “Oh, that's simple.”

“There's a description of it from an extremely strong swordsman in the past, a will that transcends death.”

  “...”

  “What?”

“So… wouldn't my hate for dragonslayers and probably the hero suit it?”

  “... Uh… maybe?”

Xania materialises a decent sword due to learning from Hepast in her free time. She concentrates on how much she wanted to kill the Dragonslayer eight there and then, causing small sparks of energy to appear before she loses concentration, causing it to disappear.

  “Huh? Why didn't it work?”

“Oh, because that's the other demon lords hate, not yours, not yet at least.”

“So, how do I hate them?”

“It's common sense, how do you usually hate people?”

  “I don't know, I don't really get angry.”

“During the fight you seemed a little pissed, when talking to Anise you also easily got pissed off.”

  “...”

“How about you fight the dragon slayer?”

“Why should I? Isn't he weak?”

“I would say his strength is below yours, but his skills will definitely compensate.”

  “Ok?”

  “So, how about tomorrow?”

  “Sure.”

“Fod the time being, please don't find and threaten him again.”

  “What?”

“You suck at controlling your blood lust.”

“Oh… is he the personal thing you said before?”

“yes, and for your next question, no, I will not elaborate further.

  “Damn, fine.”

“Miss Xania, please go and practice how to fight properly, I mean your aim. It sucks.”

“No need to rub it in.”

  “It truly sucks.”

  “... bye”

Xania teleports away, leaving Davien alone.

In her bedroom, Dragrove, Anise and Desaret are there, though Xania ignores Desaret, annoying him.

  “Why are you two here?”

“My lord, this book here said he wanted to try something.”

  “What?”

“No clue, he hasn't told us so far.”

“And the lizard? Why is he here?”

“Oi! Who the hell are you calling a lizard?!”

  “You obviously.”

Dragrove swings his tail at Xania as she blocks easily with her own tail.

“My lord, I don't think I'll ever get used to such a smooth looking and soft tail being so strong.”

“How do you know it's soft?”

  “I have a tail too.”

“No, no, no. Your tail isn't soft, and I'm speaking from experience when I get hit in the face while sleeping.”

“... Anyways, bookie here said he wanted to try something.”

“Don't call me that! You lowly demon!”

“Huh? Lowly? Wanna die?” Anise starts pouring mana into Desaret.

“Fine, fine! You're just a worthless demon.”

“Is that supposed to be better?”

  “No.”

  Anise starts pouring mana again.

“Stop it! I have to try something out.”

  “Fine.”

“My lord, you ought to burn this worthless book soon.”

  “Why is Dragrove here?”

“how am I supposed to know?”

“I am here to check something too, same as the book.”

“Stop referring to me as the book.”

“Just tell me what you want.”

“To check how close you are to god.”

“Buddy, I'm not religious, I felt like it was pretty obvious.”

“I meant how much divinity you've got.”

“Huh? Doesn't that only apply for the kingdom of Lucival?”

“no, even beings right dark mana can have divinity.”

“Ok, how much should I have?”

“Since you were chosen by a god, I assume a handful.”

  “Ok, what do I do?”

  “Give me your hand.”

Xania extends her hand out, her palm facing upwards as Desatate starts to do something, causing some dark coloured energy to appear, and at the same time despite being pitch black, somehow emitting a faint amount of light.

“It seems you have more than normal, are you able to push out more?”

  “Yea.”

  “Try it.”

Xania tries and a second later, everywhere in a 10 meter radius is overflowing with divine energy.

“Oh, I guess god particularly likes me?”

“You have enough divine energy to be an extremely weak god.”

“I guess I'm just that good huh?”

  “Stop joking around!”

“Then what do you expect me to do?”

“Anise, you will go find out anything in your records to find the cause of this.”

“Fine, but this will be the only time I listen to a book.”

  “Dragrove, you're coming with me.”

  “Huh? Why?!”

“You were curious about this so no backing out now.”

  “Tsk, fine.”

Anise teleports away with Desaret with Dragrove following behind, leaving Xania alone again.

  “Finally, some peace.”
