"Where are we going, Ryou?"

  Walking with Rei beside him while holding her soft hand, he turned toward her with a smile and answered her question.

  "We are going to the rooftop; there are not a lot of people that come there after all."

  Rei, nervously looking around at passing students who looked at them curiously, then turned toward him with upturned eyes and trembling lips. He couldn't help but think that she really was cute.

  "Are you going to do something ecchi toward me?"

  She leaned toward his ear and whispered. Something twitched in him when he felt her breath on his ear. He released his hold on her hand and put his right hand around her waist, bringing his face closer to hers with a teasing smile.

  He smiled and followed along, and after reaching a quiet part of the hall with a lot fewer students in it, she looked back displeasedly at him while pouting; there was still a hint of red on her cheek.

  "Why did you not say anything about it?"

  "Well, I thought it would be fun to see your reaction, and now I am gd to see it."

  He gently smiled at her with narrowed eyes like he usually does when he sees a cute creature. Rei turned away from him and looked to the front while softly muttering.

  "You are so mean..."

  He smiled happily at her and increased his pace slightly to match hers. We then walked in comfortable silence in the direction of the stairs that lead to the rooftop.

  After walking for a minute, he noticed a familiar presence following them. Maybe because his senses have been enhanced by a skill, he could notice him without turning around. He sneakily looked back, and as expected, he saw Takashi following them.

  A sadistic feeling grew in him. He gnced toward Rei beside him, who had a light smile on her face. She then turned toward him curiously with her head tilted, and he just smiled back at her.

  "What is it?"

  "It's nothing, I just want to stare at your pretty face, that's all."

  She blushed while staring at him speechlessly.

  "Why the sudden compliment? You won't get anything from me, you know?"

  After walking for a moment, they finally reached the base of the stairs, but there was someone blocking the way. He frowned, looking at the person, even Rei, who was usually a gentle and sweet girl that rarely got angry, was looking at the person with hate in her eyes while growling.

  "Well, well, well, isn't it the white knight with shining armor and his princess? It seems you are already back to school, huh?"

  Seeing his false smile that was full of mockery, he held himself back from punching his face, and he took a small, unnoticed breath to calm himself. He then smiled while making a confident face toward the scum in front of him.

  "Isn't it Shido-sensei? Do you need something from us?"

  Koichi frowned while fixing his gsses with his finger despite them already being perfect. It seemed Koichi didn't like that he wasn't taking the bait from his taunt. Koichi then recovered his annoying smile after a moment and turned toward Rei while looking down at her.

  "It's nothing, I just want to warn her father that he shouldn't investigate things that he is not supposed to."

  He gnced at Rei, who was looking at Koichi with displeasure. He walked in front of her to shield her from Koichi's gaze while letting out a bit of his demonic power toward him.

  "Is that all you want from us?"

  He smiled toward Koichi while looking at him with slightly dangerous eyes. He could see Koichi stiffen up while gulping his saliva in fear; there was hesitation in his eyes before he moved out of the way and bypassed the two of them.

  "Hmph! Don't do anything strange on the rooftop of the school."

  "Don't worry, we won't."

  He replied lightly to Koichi, who had a displeased tone. He retracted his demonic power and looked toward Rei, who looked relieved that Koichi was gone. Thankfully, he could slightly manipute his demonic power to be directed only at Koichi; otherwise, an ordinary human like Rei would have been terrified of him.

  "Well then, shall we go?"

  "Um."

  Seeing her nod her head skeptically, he figured showing it to her was the only way to make her believe in him. He then turned around, showing his back to her, and let his devil wing out.

  He heard a gasp coming from behind him. He gnced back to see Rei's shocked face looking at his devil wing in amazement. Unlike the decorative wings devils usually have, his wing was much bigger and looked functional; he even felt he could use it as a weapon or shield.

  "Is it alright if I touch it?"

  "Sure."

  He leaned back on the bench, and Rei sat closer to him and gingerly rubbed her hand on the membrane part of his wings.
