[**The scientists have predicted that this meteor shower will happen tonight at 2am.**]
The repeating news steals my attention first thing in the morning. I'm sitting in my school uniform at my breakfast table. My eyes are ablaze with excitement. I have been waiting for this for the past three days.
"For how many times are you gonna watch the same news?"
My attention turns to my mother when she asks such a stupid question
"It's not the same news, Mom. And it's today's update on the show tonight"
I say while stuffing my mouth with food.
I mean, it's not just because this is my first time seeing a shower, but it's happening directly in my location, in the city where I live. Yeeee.
My mother's face gets a bit tense.
"I don't like this meteor thing. After all, He went to look for this," she says under her breath. I hear it but let it go. Cause
right now I'm getting super late. I gotta hurry to school.
---
1:50 am. The next day. My alarm goes off.
I wake up rubbing my eyes after turning the clock off. It's almost time. The show starts in 10 minutes.
I take out my phone and walk to the balcony of my room on the second floor.
Standing on the balcony, I can still see the standing table beside my bed, with a picture of my family on top of it. I can see his face clearly under the light of the lamp beside it.
'We could see this show together, where are you?' I think to myself before looking up to the sky.
The sky is clear, and a lot of stars can be seen. The full moon is shining so brightly. Everything is like a perfect setup to capture a moment like this.
I prepared the phone camera cause the show is not gonna last that long. And....
6 5 4 3 2 1.
So many little fireworks, like dim light, show up in the sky. Gradually it becomes more vivid, bigger. With every passing moment, the sky gets filled with these bright sparkling little stars and my eyes open wider.
Woooow. I'm in awe.
This is spectacular. A grand - 360 degree - real life screen. This is truly amazing like a fiction movie. Like a thousand little stars, falling over my head. I'm staring at the bright night sky over my head.
I can't help but think of him, no wonder he travelled so far and lands for this kind of experience.
Feels like I can just reach my hand and touch these stars. At this point, I totally forgot to check if I'm recording it perfectly, cause its just burning in my memories in real time.
Just when I'm lost in this spectacle, my eyes catch it. A burning ball of fire, visibly larger than the meteors, was falling from the sky in the middle of all these stars. In a few seconds, before I can realise what is happening, it reaches the ground with a huge sound that deafens my ear for moments, followed by an immense vibration that shatters the glass of my windows. It feels like a short earthquake. Short but intense.
I fall on my knees. After a whole silent minute, I hear all the screams and noises around me. All the people on the rooftop and balcony who were watching the meteor shower are screaming and panicking now.
I hear my mother's panicked voice rushing from downstairs. In the next moment, she is in my room, followed by my father, and they both fuss over me with a truly worried look.
"Are you alright?. Did you get hurt anywhere?" Her eyes are searching all over me for any wounds.

I'm still sitting on my balcony floor.
My father gently puts his left hand on my shoulder, with a soft squeeze he tells me
"Don't worry. Everything is alright. We are all fine."
Though he is looking at me, I'm sure he is telling these words to my mom. She has the same scared eyes as back then.
My father's phone rings right after he finishes speaking, asking him to get to the site of this disaster.
Apparently, a meteorite has fallen and did some damage too. So they need the fire department to be there.
" I probably won't be back till tomorrow. You guys be careful and call me if anything happens," with that saying, my father leaves in a hurry.
After cleaning the shattered glasses and everything, I turn on the TV. Surely, its a breaking news.
**[The beautiful meteor shower suddenly turned into a fireball assault. What we thought to be a harmless romantic sight, was actually a one-meter meteorite that landed on Ridgewell hitting the Eastbrook district, rattling windows and the street, leaving a small crater in the street 03.]**
It seems the force really shattered the street and made a huge hole.
Well, something to look forward to on the way to school tomorrow.
---
It's a huge hole.
No, seriously, it's at least 10-15 metres wide and 2-6 metres deep. Even I, who is really, really bad with mathematical calculations, can estimate this.
........
That doesn’t mean I'm wrong this time.
I'm actually on my way to school. I left a bit early today and took a detour to see the site.
Oh i spot my father.
"Dad"
I wave my hand toward him. He is standing on the other side of the crater. He walks on my way after spotting me.
"What are you doing here? Don't you have school to be at?"
He asks me.
"Don't worry i left a bit early to visit the site. How are things going?" I ask, curiously looking at the pit full of people. "And when are you going to go home?" I ask again without looking at him
Dad looks back toward the crater. There's a thoughtful frown, hesitation flickering in his eyes before he continues
"Actually, there's a bit of a problem here. The meteor is just 1 metres, but for some reason, we are unable to pull it out of the crater. It weighs way more than it looks like."
Now that's interesting. Weighing more than it should!.
I look at my father, full of questions. He picks up
"We have tried all sorts of methods, but it won't budge"
Well i can see that. There are all kinds of tools and machines here, an excavator, a crane, People with hammers and shovels are standing inside the crater.
Apparently, they tried to break it, but it didn’t quite work. So they are waiting for big guys like drilling rigs, jackhammers.
This rock seems to be the centre of attention right now, and I'm this close to it, so of course I'll take a closer look.
I look up to my dad, and he clearly understands what his dear daughter wants.
"Wanna take a closer look?" he gives me a sly smile. Of course i nod.
I park my bicycle in a side and get into the security tap. I don't plan on going down, just peeking from the edge.
And then, my body feels the energy. Goosebumps all over. I'm revealed to the mysterious, otherworldly, most powerful sight of the grrrrand meteorite.
.............
Did you think that's what gonna happen?
Meh. It's just a big rock lying there surrounded by a bunch of people. It has nothing special. Not even as big as I thought. Such a disappointment.
"Didn’t I already tell you it's one metre?" my father blinked at me.
"But it looks roughly the size of a refrigerator, though", I say, bluntly staring down at the meteorite.
He smacks me on the head, "That's what 1 metre is. You really have no sense of numbers. Go to school and fix this."
That hurts. I mean the smack. I turn to face him while rubbing my head
" ok alright. But when are you gonna get home? Did you have breakfast?"
"Yeah i did. Don't worry, I'll head home right after the new team arrives" he assures me with a thumbs up and a smile.
"Ok then, see you at home" I take my bicycle and ride back to the school.
"Be Careful" he raises his voice from behind.
"Don't Worry. You be careful too" I shout back.
