The sun is the sky was just rising when Civ woke up.

  Grabbing the sewn leather, Civ went out and planned to go to the hut.

  He Vel, whose hair is dishevelled, was walking to the cave.

  “Yawn. Civ, what are you going to do with the leathers?” Vel asked as he saw that Civ was holding these leathers as he left the cave.

  “Oh Vel! Good thing you are already awake. I was going to wake you up. Please help me bring the tools and materials I prepared to the hut. It was placed above the spears. Place it in the hut.” Civ instructed.

  Having a grasp of what Civ might be doing, his slouch posture straightened up, and he opened his eyes wide.

  “Coming right up Civ. Wait for me at the hut!” Vel swiftly went inside the cave.

  Civ arrived at the hut. Arsh and the hunting group were starting to do their morning exercise.

  “Civ, are you going to exercise with us today?” Arsh asked.

  Civ shook his head and said. “I can’t right now. I needed to prepare many things for tomorrow’s travel.”

  “I understand. Call me if you need help preparing the things you need.” Arsh smiled and left. Following the hunting group.

  Right after Arsh left, Vel just arrived. “Here are the tools and materials you requested!”

  He placed it in the ground and sat on the bench. Vel’s eye was fixated on the sewn leather. His heart is beating loudly for what is to come.

  Vel strats rub both his palms and asks. “So Civ, what do we need to do?”

  “Here, please help me make more black glue. Make as much as you can.” Civ instructed.

  Both of them work on making a pine pitch. They both created a bowl of black glue.

  When the black glue was goey and mixed well. Civ grabbed one of the sewn leather.

  “Vel, get one of the sewn leathers. Then follow what I will do.” Civ instructed.

  What Civ did next was to remove the cordage that was stuffed inside the sewn leather. Then, using the melted black glue, he carefully poured it until it was enough.

  Next, he slowly turns the leather. Making the black glue cover every surface inside.

  Vel, on the other hand, was able to follow Civ’s process without issues.

  Noticing this, Civ instructed Vel. “Fill the other one with the black glue also. I will do another thing.”

  With Civ’s command, Vel works on the third sewn leather. Then Civ grabs an axe and a long stick that is being used as a shaft for stone spears.

  Using the axe, he cut a 5 - 6 inch (14 - 16 cm) piece of wood from the shaft. Then he created two more. It was not a good cut, and there are some bristles from where it was cut. With a rough stone, he rubbed the rough surface until the wood had a smooth texture.

  “This should be enough.” Civ looked at the smooth wood he had.

  “Civ, I’m done with the other leather. What’s next?” Vel asked.

  “Here, using the black glue, dip half of each wood. Make sure you apply it evenly.” Civ handed him the pieces of smooth wood he had made. Vel followed his instructions.

  Then Civ checked the other two sewn leather. Both passed. Civ's eyes were sparkling. He can’t wait to see the final product.

  “For the finishing touches.”

  Civ punches a hole in the bottom part of the leather where there is an inch of allowance. With a thicker bone needle, there was enough hole for a cordage to pass through. Measuring length from the shoulder to the waist, Civ put the cordage over his shoulder. Then he finished the loop by tying the rest of the cordage to the neck of the leather, making it a strap.

  “This feels lighter than I expected.” Civ felt satisfied with the current length.

  Civ finished working on the other two and added its straps using cordage. He hung these three in the extended edges of the roof. Curing the pine pitch inside.

  The wood that Civ tasked Vel with was also done. It was covered evenly. Waiting for both the leather and the wood to dry.

  “What’s next?” Vel excitedly asked.

  “We wait for it to dry.” Civ replied.

  They rest for the meantime. Vel waited while Civ sharpened his stone knife.

  Bone needles on his side, he put thread for both in a thin cordage on each tip. He got a pair of leather for the upper body. He connected the two by sewing the edges of the leather.

  Vel looked at it, and his hand got itchy. A temptation to try starts to take over his fatigue.

  With saddle stitch, Civ proceeds to sew the edges of the tunic. This process takes Civ around 2 hours to finish both sides of the tunic. Once he completed the sewing, he turned it right side out.

  What the three saw was a sleeveless light brown tunic. It was not good in artisan standards. But it can be improved by constant practice.

  “Wear it Luk.” Civ handed him his tunic.

  Luk received his tunic. But he tried to put his head in one of the arm holes.

  “Civ, how do you wear this? This is for the upper body.” Luk’s head popped through the other side of the arm hole

  A giggle was heard from both Vel and Civ.

  “Let me help you.” Civ stood up. He removed the tunic from Luk. Using the standard way of wearing it. Civ put Luk’s head at the bottom of the tunic. Then he passes through the head and arms to the correct holes.

  The eyes of Vel widened. “Amazing! You looked good in that!”

  A light feeling was also noticed by Luk.

  “This is better than the animal skin we are using!” Luk exclaimed.

  The animal skin they are using is sometimes itchy because there is still hair on it.

  Both Vel and Civ see the satisfaction in Luk. Civ looked at Vel.

  “I will Civ!” Vel excitedly grabbed the measuring thread. Then he starts measuring Civ’s body.

  Honestly, Civ was surprised by how fluid and fast Vel worked on the task of making the tunic. With minimal questions, he was able to measure Civ’s body with precision.

  With the guidance of Civ, Vel was able to finish making the tunic within the same timeline.

  “This really feels better compared to the dried skin,” Civ exclaimed.

  “Thank you Vel. Since you made it for me. Let me measure you also.” Civ used the measuring thread he had. They started working on Vel’s tunic. He let Vel focus on working on the tunic. While Civ moves on, making the leggings.

  Vel wears the tunic he made for himself.

  “You are right! This feels amazing!” Vel commented.

  Civ just finished making the first leggings. “Wear this also. This is for your lower body.”

  Luk knows now how to use this and put his legs based on the holes. But after putting them on, the leggings just fell down.

  “You need to use this thread.” Civ assisted him and tightened the cordage in his waist.

  “So that was the use of this one. I understand it now.” Luk replied.

  Since Vel also saw how it was done, he helped Civ sew the two leggings. While they are working. Luk and Civ talked about what to do outside. Luk patiently listened and asked what they needed to do and look for.

  It was past noon when they finished sewing the leggings.

  When the three of them wear it. Civ looked at the two and felt accomplished.
