CHAPTER – 117 [Waiting for the Results]

  CHAPTER – 117

  Outside the Arena

Narrator: Both headed to their respective rooms for a hot bath and clean clothes after the fateful training session.

Selene, while taking off her clothes, looked with determination at her wooden sword on the floor, thinking of him…

  like it was a fixation.

That day, Selene’s hands didn’t just touch the sword…

They also touched her teacher’s hands, earning his trust with an important secret.

“Idiot,” she thought, looking at the sword with a small smile on her face before stepping into the shower.

Dav did the same in his room: he stepped into the shower and began washing away every trace of sweat and exhaustion left on his body.

The exam was over, and everyone was waiting patiently for the results, which would be posted on the walls within two hours.

Once done, Dav stepped out, dried his hair, applied some cream, and used the bottle for his callused hands.

Then he got dressed and went to bother Lucrezia a little.

  [Leaving his room]

Dav: (Walking) I think I’ll go bother Lucrezia a bit to pass the time and read something with her.

I had to postpone training with Lexia and Kael to tomorrow…

that way I can take everyone to the mall without problems.

[Noticing Dr. Sofia Manfredi outside the infirmary]

Dav: (Greeting) Good morning, Doctor Manfredi.

Sofia: (Sighing) That’s very kind of you, but please…

  just call me Sofia.

Dav: (Making a silly face) Alright… just Sofia, then.

(Curiously) Are you waiting for someone? You kind of look like it.

  Sofia: (Sighing again) No… I mean… yes.

  There’s a student I care a lot about.

She had her exam today… I hope nothing went wrong.

Dav: (Curious) Would you tell me about her, if you don’t mind?

Sofia: (Leaning against the wall) She often comes to the infirmary…

she wants to learn everything about healing magic and potions.

  She’s a healer.

She doesn’t like fighting—she just wants to treat the wounded.

Dav: (Hand on chin) Healing magic is really useful in battle.

A team can keep fighting much longer, and it can remove negative effects too… like poison and burns.

  Sofia: (Elegant smile) Exactly.

  She has great talent.

She always comes to me to learn.

I’m not just a doctor: I also hold a course, but she’s the only student who attends it.

Dav: (Small smile) You must be very proud of her, I suppose.

Sofia: (Looking up) I wonder if she passed the exam without problems…

  She’s studied so hard.

She’s incredibly smart! Not even a third-year student can learn the way she does.

  Dav: (Interested)

I wonder if I’ll run into her around the academy, huh.

  Sofia: (Looking at Dav’s hands)

How’s the cream going? Your hands are full of deep scars…

I hope it doesn’t hurt to hold a sword every day.

Dav: (Looking at his hands with an intense gaze) No pain.

  Just bad memories.

  Nothing more.

  Sofia: (Serious tone) I see.

If you ever do feel pain… come straight to me.

  Dav: (Continuing)

I was going to look for the brat— I mean, Professor Lucrezia Bianchi, in her room.

I wanted to read something about scrolls.

  See you later, Sofia.

Sofia: (Thinking) With that grumpy little girl who always brags?

Has something changed since he arrived? Seems impossible to believe…

I’ll figure it out slowly… but first, I want to focus on my student.

  (Waving) See you later, Professor.

Dav: (Thinking) Time to go bother Lucrezia for a bit.

  Narrator:

When he arrived at Lucrezia’s room, Dav knocked and opened the door.

He saw Lucrezia wearing a lovely outfit, admiring herself in the mirror.

A little embarrassed, she asked him:

"You think I look silly dressed like this, don’t you…?"

Dav, with his hands behind his back, conjured a beautiful, fragrant rose.

He placed it in her neat hair and said with a sincere smile:

  "You look really beautiful, Lucrezia."

Lucrezia, shyly playing with her thumbs, thanked him with a bit of embarrassment…

  and a genuine smile.

Dav walked over to her bookshelf, looking for an interesting book to read for the two hours before lunch.

He grabbed one at random: a fantasy novel titled "The Gentle Demon and the Cheerful Warrior."

  They started reading it together:

Dav sat with his back against the bookshelf, legs crossed, while Lucrezia sat in front of him like a curious child as Dav read aloud.
