The next day me and Sid went out. But today she was wearing a blue dress that the kingdom of water lent her. I guess she is a girl, too. I then thought, she is pretty, witch was a strange thing of me to think as I usually dont like light hair. I then asked, more abruptly than I intended, “Why aren't you wearing your usual pants and leather armorer?” She replied, “The water kingdom has given us an escort, so I don't need to guard you today, though I do have a knife under my dress, and I am going to take a staff with me.” It looked funny, a pretty girl in a dress with a staff. We joined the escort, who was a man in leather armor. He had a mace, buckler, and knife. Today it was raining heavily, so we were given umbrellas; evidently, the sunny day yesterday was rare.
We went to a restaurant. It was a nice place; they had alcohol. And fed us fish, which the water kingdom was famous for, and as a way to show gratitude, they didn't charge us. There was a bard trying to play music louder than the roar of the rain, and I had no complaints about the restaurant. The only complaint I had was that our legs were cold, as the umbrellas don't protect our legs.
Some of the heroes had already left for the kingdom of Earth, and those that remained were being almost worshipped; many men and women were flirting with them, they probably avoided me because Sid was with me, after all, most of the heroes were traveling with knights that were the same gender as them, guess I’m the odd one.
Once we finished eating, we went back to the castle and trained my new water magic. We were able to suddenly draw water from nowhere, and we were able to control it the same way as wind magic, threw movement. Then I practiced staff-fighting, rested, and once night came, we went to bed.
The next morning, we left for the Kingdom of Earth. But not all the heroes left; some decided to stay here, where it was safe, and they were treated like royalty. We were told we could keep our umbrellas, and that it takes about two days to get to the Kingdom of Earth, one to get out of the land of water, and a second to get to the Earth Kingdom. They also warned us about a bandit group.
The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.
About half a day later, we saw a carriage being attacked by bandits, many of the heroes walking by this, ignored it. One of them looked back at the commotion, shook his head, and picked up his pace. Their mission was the dragon's blood, not playing hero for some merchant. Their indifference felt almost worse than the bandits' aggression." So with no other choice, I jumped in. There were about four of them. I immediately knocked one out with an overhead swing from behind, then the others noticed me and Sid. Two closed in on me, and one charged toward Sid. Of the two, I was fighting one, had a club, and the other had a sharpened stick. I quickly jabbed at the face of the one with the sharpened stick, and then used the center of my staff to block the other's club, before blowing him away with wind, sending him flying into one of the many lakes.
I then turned around to check on Sid, but it looked like she had everything under control. Then the one that went flying into the lake got to shore, so before he could get up, I knocked him out.
After that, Sid won the fight, and I went up to the carriage driver to see if he was ok, but heard something disturbing behind me. I looked and saw Sid finishing off the bandit she had defeated. I asked, “Why are you killing them?” My voice sounded too loud in the dripping quiet after the fight. She replied as she wiped her dagger on the bandit's tunic, her movements methodical. “If we don't, they will attack someone else and it would be our fault.” The logic was a cold stone in my gut. I wanted to argue, to say we could tie them up, turn them in, but to who? We were in the middle of nowhere. I turned away, but not before seeing the finality in her eyes. Closing mine didn't block out the image."
Then the carriage driver woke me from my state by saying, “Thank you, as a repayment, would you like to ride with me? We quickly agreed, evidently, the carriage driver was also going to the Earth Kingdom; he was a man with blue hair and a bit of a plump appearance, but he wasn't fat, just round in the face.
Talking to him, he was a nice enough man. On the way there, we heard about his stories of his travels.
While riding the carriage, I thought about what Sid said and did. Was it really necessary to kill them?
