  Time gradually passes as I sit outside of the boss’ aura. Just letting Quantum Vampirism drain the boss’ aura of energy bit by ever so little bit. Meanwhile the boss doesn’t actually do anything.

  The thing just sits there seemingly in a vegetative state. Unable to do anything thanks to part of its brain being destroyed.

  But even after an entire day passes like this, I still don’t feel like I have enough energy built up to finish the thing off. And I’d rather not end up trying to attack the boss too soon, only to find that my attack doesn’t even pierce its aura to reach the thing’s body. Following which I’d have to do it all over again and wait for more energy to build up.

  So I continue waiting. Until a problem begins to show up.

  Because I’m not the only one gathering energy. And it looks like the boss may just have some powers that it doesn’t have to think about to use.

  Either that or a small part of its brain is still alive and able to use a power.

  Of course, it could just be something going wrong in its damaged brain and using an attack without meaning to or on instinct.

  Either way, the aura around its body is gradually condensing into a small sphere around it. Then that aura starts suddenly launching missiles all over the place without any aim.

  My eyes widen, both at the increase in energy I’m getting from Quantum Vampirism, and when a missile passes right by my face. Just barely missing me.

  Then several more missiles out of the thousands of missiles firing from the sphere head towards me. Making me teleport out of the way over and over again.

  Damnit, this isn’t going well.

  I wait a little bit longer to gather more energy, only for me to cry out in pain and grit my teeth when one of the missiles finally hits me. Taking a large chunk out of my side in the process.

  So I don’t wait any longer. I revert the damage before teleporting right up to the boss and swinging my blade with all of the energy I’ve stored up until now coating said blade.

  And the moment my blade clashes with the sphere, a powerful shockwave shoots out in all directions. Blasting away everything nearby and ripping away my very skin and flesh while damaging my armor at a rapid pace.

  But I don’t stop and continue pushing. And pushing.

  And pushing.

  After a painful several seconds, my blade finally cracks the sphere and rushes inside to strike directly at the open part of the piranha’s skull that I previously split open. With the blade entering its skull and going straight into its brain again.

  Slicing its brain completely in half this time and continuing even after that to dig into its skull beneath its brain.

  Although my blade doesn’t go very far after that, getting stuck in its skull after digging just a couple centimeters into it.

  Not that it matters. Not when I get notifications. The very one I’ve been hoping to get for a while now.

  Then multiple things happen at once.

  For one, I feel an immense amount of pain flooding my body. More pain than I’ve ever felt in my life.

  Then I see a flood of power rushing out of my body and streaking across the horizon.

  But what’s weird about it is that the power rushing from my body, from what I can see before my mind begins to grow overwhelmed by the pain, is a mixture of two types of energy. So it’s not just quantum energy.

  There’s also a black energy with an eerie purple aura around it mixed in with the quantum energy.

  An energy I very easily recognize as the same energy my mother uses.

  The energy of a devourer.

  That’s the last thought that crosses my mind before I completely lose consciousness from the pain. Only for me to regain consciousness again who knows how long later with several messages flooding my vision.

  My eyes widen at the sight of the messages before I find myself grinning after reading them.

  And as if the previous messages weren’t enough, I find a Legendary Feat appearing in my vision on top of that.

  Nice!

  That’s not all though as I still have that other Legendary Feat I’ve been saving up for a long time now. So without even looking at the boss’ corpse, or the boss’ chest rewarding me for killing it, I finally use up the reward for that Legendary Feat I got ages ago.
