Tale 5: “Goodbye Jaques.” – Part 6.

Twirling Ruby’s cornrows through her fingers, Delzie smiled. “What are you implying Ruby?” Delzie saw the serious look sparking from her lovely hazel eye and changed her tone, “My name? You’re right, love.” Delzie took a deep breath and began shaking, “I haven’t said it in years. Victoire Bauge, I am French like yourself.” Running her fingers along Ruby’s spine, Delzie added, “Much like all of us, I wear an illusion. Delzie is a cute little elf-girl name. I can’t imagine your name is Ruby either.” Catching her lip in her teeth for a moment, Delzie ran her hand over Ruby’s tattoo and then asked, “What is your name name, I know that Jaques gave you the name Ruby. Don’t leave me in a fog of love without returning the favor.”

“Paralee Vallee.” Ruby solemnly offered and pressed a final kiss to her lover. “Do yourself a favor and leave this ship the first chance you get.” Ruby hastily donned her armor, tying it half-assed to her body. “Delzie…My things below…watch them, I will be back for them and you soon enough.” Ruby winked once she pulled her boots on and stomped them into pce. “Protect that egg, if you please.”

Sliding herself to the side of the box they were hidden in, the greensleeve nodded and pced her hand over her heart. “With my life, Ruby One-Eye. This isn’t goodbye, right?”

Ruby looked over the crows’ nest lookout and spotted Captain Jaques taking his customary sunrise walk across the deck. Climbing onto one of the yardarms, Ruby winked and pointed to her bandana. “Nope, you can’t get rid of me that fast.” Laughing loud enough that the captain looked up, Ruby saluted Captain Jaques and wrapped herself in a loose rope, “Captain, do your own dirty work. As far as I am concerned, these two years more than pays for everything.” She blew Jaques a teasing kiss, “Those are worth an absolute fortune.”

With a spring and a twist Ruby swung out over the open water of the Mediterranean Sea and promptly disappeared from view.

“Zo, that is where Victoria comes from, yez?” Avanora smiled and snuggled closer to Ruby and pointed to the second name on Ruby’s shoulder for Digger to see. “Why didn’t you express thiz story to me before, love?”

Digger blinked and wiggled one of his fingers in his ear in disbelief, “Captain, you aren’t slurring or hard to understand.” He ughed, “Why?”

Resigned to using the speech she was taught while growing up, Ruby smiled. “All part of the illusion, Digger. That whole tale was about not trusting what you’ve seen or heard. Judge for yourself and trust your own senses.” Ruby turned to Avanora. “It wasn’t intentional, love.” Ruby grinned and looked at Digger. “Close your eyes, boy. I have a little negotiation that I feel is in order.”

  “Aye Captain.”

Brushing her lips across Ava’s fire-stained lips, Ruby gently tugged on her lover’s ears and whispered, “Mmm, my lovely fire breather…” Ruby suckled on Ava’s lower lip briefly.

“The source of warmth in my heart every night,An accidental oversight,Promises traded and sworn,Please love do not be torn,I bear the marks of seven separate romances that’s true,My heart and body has since then belonged to you..My one and only where it counts most,All alone where I can hold you close.”

Catching Digger brushing himself off, Ruby watched the boy disappear from view. “I apologize, Avanora.” Tracing her lover's hourgss form with her finger, Ruby rexed when Ava finally pressed her lips intensely to her own, indicating that the slight incident was behind them. Minutes passed in silence as the two kept their lip bond and explored each other's form, breaking apart only when they both needed air. “Ava, darling.” Ruby softly cooed, “Above all, you know I love you. You are the only one besides myself that knows my true name, my true nature. I am id bare by your gentle silver eyes and delicate voice. You know you can ask me anything.”

Unconsciously tracing the scripted lettering that bore the name Victoria, Ava nodded as a simple and pleasant smile finally appeared. “Zo, I dare to ask My Rubiez.” She hesitated and was instantly soothed when she saw the heart-felt gaze of Ruby’s hazel eye. “MaryBellz, is…”

Making little ‘S’s along Ava’s cheeks, Ruby let her nimble fingers speak more than she could at the moment. It was only when Ava returned the affection by rubbing against Ruby’s delicate touch did the old pirate nod to confirm what Ava asked. “A promise is a promise.” Ruby pulled Ava into her p and slid her fingers through the ptinum locks, “That is Delzie. Like the others on the list, she broke my heart. She’s always been loyal and I kept my word. She is here as long as she wants to be.”

Crunching of seagrass brought Ruby out of her solemn moment with Ava. With a wink of her piercing hazel eye and a swift move, Ava had been turned in Ruby’s p so that when Digger crested over the hill once more, the couple wouldn’t immediately tease the young man. “He’s coming back.”

Happily ughing and holding Ruby for dear life as she was spun, Ava enjoyed the wind in her hair. “All is perfectly fine, Lovez. Many loverz my Rubiez has, yez? I knew that coming to you, my darling love. Everything con-zidering, the tale was beautiful. Pre-zious moments have been with you, this one included. I would request a few songs from your heavenly voice ter.”

“Absolutely.” Ruby affirmed as Digger came into view. “Welcome back, Negotiations are finished for now, your timing is great..” She looked at Ava pyfully, “...I should say greatz.” Hearing the fun little giggle come from Ava, Ruby held her index finger in the air. “There I was in the damned cold ass water…”
