Another half a month passed by. During that time, Tatsumi learned much about the sea from Ishimura Ryo. He also learned a bit about the destination that he was heading to.
According to what Charlene had told him, the Hinon Federation was located in the southeast region of the Comberth Continent. Its territory was increasing from time to time because several small territories were overwhelmed by their neighbor and had no choice but to merge with one of the powerhouses of the continent.
The destination of the fleet was Bren, the biggest coastal city that had a rge deep port that could accommodate the ships they were on.
It was also home to the military garrison, especially the navy. From the current position of the ship, Tatsumi could see in the distance a rge mass of nd.
“We will arrive in about two hours.” Charlene who was beside him predicted the time of arrival judging from the distance remaining and told Tatsumi about it.
Tatsumi looked at the sea around him and found several military ships, which were different from the civilian ones. Of course, he recognized that the ship he was currently on was a military one.
“There are a lot of ships here. This is the busy route that Sister Charlene often mentioned!” Tatsumi looked at the side of the ship from the deck and could see many ships moving around.
It was because they received a communication from the port that the military ship that went to the Heavensend Continent had returned. Due to this, they had to give way to prioritize the military ships.
And that was exactly what they were doing. They had to alter the course of the ship to make way.
So a rge channel was formed with some ships at the side. The armada then set course straight to the Bren Port.
While Tatsumi waited for the arrival time, he could see that the Bren Port was lively with dozens of ships moving around. He could probably imagine the daily activity caused by the ships alone. Along with the ship activity must be the activity of its people.
He could hear the sound of horns coming from the other ships resounding in the sea area. Although it was faint, Tatsumi caught it quite easily. Then he noticed that several sailors were preparing in their position for the eventual positioning and docking.
After waiting for two hours, the ship had finally arrived at the Comberth Continent in Bren Port.
They had to position the ship. After waiting for another fifteen minutes, ramps slowly came from below to the side of the ship.
Then the ramp was made to be tightly fit to the side of the ship.
Then an announcement was made by the ship’s announcer.
“The ramps are in pce. All passengers can leave the ship through the ramp!”
The announcement was repeated three times so that all the reted people could hear it and know what to do.
Then Tatsumi and Charlene went to the other cabin to make sure that their group was ready to leave the ship. As for both of them, they were already prepared some time ago.
Tatsumi carried with him a small backpack that was given by the logistics from the Hinon Federation Forces while Charlene had to bring her own luggage. The luggage was quite big and heavy but strangely Charlene could carry it around as if it was nothing.
Then the ship let out a noise that could be heard even from far away. It was loud enough that Tatsumi could feel his ears ringing. He did not expect this kind of communication to exist until he experienced it himself.
Hearing it for a second time gave Tatsumi some idea as to what the sound indicated.
The passengers all gathered at the deck while some of the ship sailors tried to contain the group in one pce to make sure that they orderly move and could be managed easily.
Tatsumi could see that the sailors formed a perimeter around the passengers so that they were grouped in one pce.
The wind that came from the sea blew through the deck of the ship. It was a bit warm but also cooling as it passed through them. They could already see the docking pce for the ship as it headed toward it.
After a while, the ship had to position itself so that it could anchor properly. Properly here meant that it had to be stable and did not sway much. Tatsumi could see from the movement of the ship that it attempted to do so.
Then after the ship had stabilized, the ramps were coming to connect the ship with the port structure.
Only after the confirmation from the nearby sailors that the passengers could leave from the ramp.
“Alright, gather up everyone. Stick with each other and follow me.” At this moment Charlene was the one who instructed the group.
Tatsumi could see all of the orphanage group behind Charlene obediently lined up nice and steady. His eyes lit up as he also followed them and stood behind Charlene. He knew that Charlene was the only person here who needed to be here as a guarantor for them.
It was a necessary procedure according to what Tatsumi knew. Of course, he heard it from Charlene numerous times so he knew that this one procedure was extremely important to them.
And what Tatsumi thought was correct. The Hinon Federation had a strict regution regarding immigrants and the immigrants had to follow certain rules or have a guarantor to make sure that they did not end up as a source of problems.
This also ensured that when an exceptional individual was brimming with talent the people from the Federation could invite them to be a citizen of the Hinon Federation.
That was the reason why Charlene could do this. She had pnned this from the start since she knew about the rules and regutions regarding the immigrant.
Tatsumi then followed behind Charlene and he also made sure that the group followed her. He helped Feng Mo since she was the oldest in the group followed by his peers which was still doable.
Then he met one particur problem, no actually it was just a bit of heartfelt frustration. It came from one of the adult supervisors that Tatsumi knew quite well.
“Why did we have to come here?” Tatsumi could hear the murmur of the young woman called Hua Fei.
“Hmm.” Tatsumi tugged at the hem of her clothes so that he could remind her politely. She noticed and took a sigh of resignation and forced out a smile.
“If you feel that this is too much please say it,” Tatsumi said in a ft tone devoid of any emotion. Upon hearing this, Hua Fei knew that the considerate child in front of her was actually reprimanding her as well as warning her.
“It is just that a lot has happened and I don’t know what kind of new environment I will have to face. I am worried about myself and the others.” Hua Fei honestly told him about her worries.
She knew that Tatsumi was an intelligent child who had noticed it by himself so she told him about that.
“Alright. But please trust those that gave you all of your current life. That is all I want to ask of you.” Tatsumi then said with a bit of persuasion in his voice.
“Hmph, what do the kid like you know about trust? Fine, since you said so I can rest assured and do what I can do.” Hua Fei tilted her head but her eyes kept watching Tatsumi.
“Hmm, I am gd to hear that. Please take care of everyone like always.” Tatsumi then went on his way to the others, talking about their nervousness about the new pce that was unlike their previous pce.
When they nded safely at the port, they could see that the buildings and the infrastructure that made the Bren Port City were of different aesthetics from the people from the Heavensend Kingdom.
It was a new art style that sparked a new inspiration in their heads. Even Tatsumi was also capturing the buildings around him as if captivated by them. He was confirming the buildings that he had heard from Charlene and the one he just saw.
Then he stabilized the image he had in his mind with the current reality that he saw. He could now at least imagine the people who lived in such buildings as well as the way they spoke.
He could also hear the people around him speaking in a simir way that Charlene had taught him. He could capture some simple sentences like greetings, praise, persuasion, and even negotiation.
The port became crowded at this time due to the coming of the Navy Fleet. It also welcomed the soldiers who were away and returning from faraway pces.
Tatsumi had a faint inkling as to what war truly was but he knew that he should not be drowned in the misery of war. He could only say that this happened for a reason and one day he would find out about it.
Then the group was brought to the buildings that Tatsumi could guess as government-reted buildings.
Although the soldiers were not with them because their destination was different, most of the passengers from the ship went with the group. Tatsumi could also see Ishimura Ryo go with them.
The government-reted building was neat and had a confident color and air that caused people to realize that this pce was important for governance.
“This is the pce where the Hinon Federation will process your status. Currently, anyone from outside the Federation will be treated as an immigrant. Only when they are through this Foreign Affairs Department building will their status be changed to third-rate citizen.” Charlene then faced the group and expined the purpose of them being there.
Even Tatsumi could understand what was being said. He also found out about the importance of the status of an individual when they were in a civilized pce.
“Sister Charlene, what difference does the citizen in the Federation signify?” Tatsumi asked what everyone wanted to know.
Charlene let out a slight smile as she expined further, “It is reted to their status and contribution to the Federation. If you are a person of significance, you will have a higher citizen status. For example, I am currently a second-rate citizen because of my contribution to the Federation. Most people in the Federation are third-rate citizens so you don’t need to worry.”
Tatsumi nodded seriously. He at least realized that there was also a hierarchy in the Hinon Federation but it was based on contribution. As for how it was counted, he did not know much but there must be some criteria for it.
“Welcome to the Foreign Affairs Department, how can I help you?”
Then Tatsumi could hear some terms that he did not understand so he listened closely while Charlene was the one who had to deal with the administration process.
“I want to recommend these people behind me to get a citizen status in the Federation. By the way, here is another recommendation letter. And this too…” Charlene then pulled out something like a colored paper and Tatsumi had to look at it carefully because it was a significant thing to have.
The proof of that was the one who received Charlene had her eyes widened in surprise. She clearly knew about the importance of the letter and did not dismiss it.
Instead, she carefully read the letter and confirmed with something else before she accepted the letter. Tatsumi did not know exactly the process of verifying the letter was true but it looked like a bck cube at the table was partly responsible for it.
“Alright, after confirming the letter and your status, the request has been accepted. But we need your signature on this paper.”
Charlene then grabbed the paper and read it carefully. She frowned for a bit but then she pced the paper on the table and used an ink-filled pen to write her signature.
After that, she gave it back and the process was basically done as the woman put all the documents into a certain file. Then the woman gave it to Charlene and said, “Here is the proof of the citizenship of the group you mentioned. Please don’t forget to contribute more to the Federation.”
As she said it, she took a look at the group and realized that most of them were children and understood that Charlene was bringing them to the Federation for a reason.
“Yes, thank you for helping me,” Charlene replied with gratitude.
“No need. As a second-css citizen, you have the privilege to bring some people to be citizens of the Federation. We should do this to accommodate the people who have contributed much to the Federation. I will never forget you as one of our prodigies.” The woman just said it as if it was a fact.
Charlene nodded as light brimmed in her eyes. She sighed and then left with the group.
On the way they exited the building, Charlene gave most of the content of the files to Feng Mo and Hua Fei as they were the ones responsible for the children.
“This is the current proof of your citizenship in the Hinon Federation.” Charlene started by showing them the paper that was as wide as half of her body.
“This is the current method which indicates that you are the citizens of the Federation so please safeguard it at all costs. Take a look and remember it so that you know this important paper.”
Charlene sorted out the documents they had and made it easier to process. Charlene was used to this as the people from the Hinon Science Institute often did something simir.
After that was settled, she brought them to the established motel for a stay. It was because she had to process a certain paper if Charlene wanted the group to stay long-term in the Federation territory.
‘I prefer if they are close to me. I think that pce should be suitable.’ Charlene thought as she checked one paper that showed the pce where there were lots of new buildings.
And it was located in Giol City where Charlene resided with her family. She already discussed this with Feng Mo and Hua Fei about it and just needed to finalize the matter.
Furthermore, they needed some time before they had to move there. So Charlene told the group to rest well because tomorrow was going to be quite a journey.
“Alright, everyone has been given the keys to their own room and pced their belongings there.” Charlene checked with Feng Mo and Hua Fei about the group's situation.
“Yes, according to what is given in proportion.” Hua Fei replied softly. She was surprised to see that Charlene could quickly sort out the necessities of a group. Charlene was even more efficient in doing that which impressed Hua Fei a little.
“Since there is nothing more to be discussed, then rest well. We will move in the morning so that we can catch it.” Charlene reminded with a slight smile. She knew that the transportation that was used would impress them.
Hua Fei thought about what Charlene had said but she did not understand why Charlene wanted to keep it as a surprise for them.
‘Is the transportation method a bit different?’ she thought.
As for Feng Mo, she just hummed an old song that few remembered. She was already elderly, so she knew that Charlene also considered her physical situation.
Then the both of them went to the same room because they shared the same room. It was because Charlene arranged it this way that it became more convenient for them.
As for Charlene, she checked the children’s room one more time. She needed to do this because there were some chances that the children became excited and could not sleep.
‘After all, the nighttime in this pce is slightly different compared to their old pce.’ Charlene considered it from their perspective.
The Hinon Federation had introduced electricity as the power source of the entire aspect of life so many things used electric current as the source of energy. That included the mps in the room as well as the streets.
This was because Tesna was the one who introduced it to the Hinon Federation and said that the electricity would become the energy that the future generation needed more.
Speaking about Tesna, Charlene remembered that he was also facing pressure when he introduced that concept. She too faced some obstacles in her path to introduce a new energy source but just like Tesna who found a solution, she too would find it one day.
‘Will it be possible that there is an almost infinite energy source here but we just can’t manage it properly?’ Charlene thought to herself.
She was surprised to find out that the children had gone to sleep as there was no noise from their room. She was gd to know that the children had exhausted themselves due to their excitement.
Even there was no sound when she came to visit Tatsumi and Nene’s room. Their room was no different from the others so she came to her own room which was a single room for one person.
There was minimal furniture such as a bed, wardrobe, table, and chairs. The floor was quite cool to the touch and the room itself was fragrant because it was sprayed with some room refresher once in a while.
She took off her outing clothes and wore the clothes that she used when she went to bed. She could feel that the bed was so comfortable.
‘No wonder all of them slept with no sound. The bed is this comfortable, what if I pced my head on the pillow…’ she did as she thought and discovered that she felt rexed and her breathing became stable.
Unknowingly, she fell asleep fast.
